Please join us for a conversation with Craig Hassall, the president and CEO of Playhouse Square in Cleveland. Craig will join us via internet on November 25 from 5:00 to 6:00PM.
Craig Hassall is a native of Australia who has held senior roles in performing arts management around the world. He contributed artistic development for the Summer Olympics in Sydney and London, managed Opera Australia and then the English National Ballet. Immediately before coming to Cleveland he was the director of the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Playhouse Square celebrated its centennial in 2022. It is the largest performing arts center in the United States outside New York City. It has 11 performing spaces, including four 1920s “movie palaces.” Within its purview around Euclid and East 17th Street are the City Club of Cleveland, the Lumen high-rise residence tower, and, on Chester Avenue, the Art Deco Greyhound bus terminal, which Playhouse Square is redeveloping.
Playhouse Square is a critical catalyst for Cleveland’s reputation and prosperity. It has seven resident companies and the largest touring Broadway season ticket base in North America. It has trained such actors as Paul Newman, Tom Hanks, Joel Grey, Burgess Meredith and Margaret Hamilton, and brings hundreds of millions of dollars to the city’s economy.
Please join us for what should prove to be an informative and enlightening conversation with Craig about a jewel in Cleveland’s crown.
